Career Events

Our MD, Alison was delighted to be asked to participate in 2 career events at a local secondary school recently. The first was a Dragons Den style afternoon for Year 7. Groups were asked to pitch a product that could be a gift for a hospital patient with special consideration for the environment as well as an eye on cost.

Alison said ‘The standard was incredibly high and I was super impressed with the confident presenters who were able to tell us all about their products’. Ideas included personalised gift boxes, warming blankets and teddies.  Alison added ‘One of my favourite ideas was to receive a positive message from someone who had been through what you (the patient) are going through – wouldn’t that be great to receive?’

The second event was the careers equivalent of speed dating for Year 8 pupils, who are about to select their GCSE pathways.  With around 18 different vocations around the room, the students had a few minutes at each table to find out more about each profession and the background of the representative  which may help inform their subject choices going forward. Alison said ‘I really enjoyed meeting the Year 8 students and chatting to them about their career aspirations. I’m sure I met some budding entrepreneurs that day and I hope they found the conversations useful’.
